Keynote Speaker: Christina Furtado

Using her background as an educator and mental health practitioner, Christina is the exuberant Mental Health and Wellness Specialist with guard.meCARES.  She works most often with organization that are education-, or community-based and has worked with various organizations in Ontario, Canada, and Europe. With clinical specialization in the areas of substance-use disorders, mood-related disorders, behaviour, anger, and stress management, as well as anxiety and trauma-related disorders, Christina brings her clinical expertise to the guard.meCARES platform through the Wellness and Learning Initiatives Program. 

Prior to becoming a mental health counsellor, Christina devoted 15 years to supporting students’ wellbeing as an educator and administrator within the k-12 private sector. As a practicing member of the Canadian Psychological Association, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals since 2015, Christina continues to be a passionate advocate through various mental health initiatives worldwide. She is a certified Mental Health First Aid facilitator, a certified safeTalk Instructor, and holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP). Devoting 2 decades to empowering individuals and creating opportunities for positive transformation and growth; Christina brings a track record of authenticity, integrity, inspiration, and passion to everything she does.
